In this post I would like to express my opinion on the article I have read entitled "Conspiracy theories: why are they thriving in the pandemic?" written by Rod Dacombe of King's College London. The article tells about conspiracy theories in the light of current world events.
I believe that conspiracy theories are extremely dangerous in today's world. We could notice their effects at the beginning of January in front of the US Capitol building. Through social media, which allows information to be spread rapidly, influence of conspiracy theories has increased. Additionally, they are strengthened by the global pandemic. The article presents statements of scientists and interesting observations on conspiracy theories. However, the author does not proposea specific solution to this problem and only suggests a change in the rules of the functioning of social media or that the government should take up the fight against disinformation. I think that some solutions should be introduced to limit their impact, but reconciling them with freedom of speech can be difficult. There is no doubt that this is a challenge for the politicians in the present decade. Conspiracy theories can be a real existential threat to modern democracy.

A good post. Maybe instead of the details about the author (which can be checked if you open the link) you could add more about the main claims of the article itself next time?
