In today's post, I will write about article "Don't Go Down the Rabbit Hole" by Charlie Warzel from The New York Times. In the article, the author expresses his views on how to fight conspiracy theories and how to get information in the realities of the Internet. In my opinion, the theories presented by the author are absurd and dangerous. I do not agree that people should give up critical thinking and a analysis of the text, instead following the opinion of the majority or the media, quickly(within a minute!) forming their opinion( this is what SIFT method comes down to in practice). Perhaps such an action would help with conspiracy theories problem to a small extent, but would create many new dangerous threats. Such a method, however, is clearly in the interests of the major media, and that is probably the goal, because the internet has made people less dependent on them than in the case of radio or television. https://www.nytimes.com/2021/02/18/opinion/fake-news-med...
In this post I would like to comment the article "Bill Gates: Solving Covid easy compared with climate" written by Justin Rowlatt (BBC). The article describes Bill Gates' views on climate change especially in the context of recent events. The article shows what solutions Bill Gates supports and confronts it with his behavior. Climate change is extremely important in today's world and perhaps Mr. Gates is right in saying that it is the greatest challenge in human history. In general, I agree with the opinions presented in the article, in particular that accelerating technological changes is most important. At the same time, I appreciate a certain realism of Bill Gates in his actions for the climate, for example when he says that it is impossible to eliminate air traffic and that technological changes should be done so that it does not harm the climate. I think that a sensible fight against climate change, not hysterical radicalism, is what the world needs. https://www....
In this post I would like to express my opinion on the article I have read entitled "Conspiracy theories: why are they thriving in the pandemic?" written by Rod Dacombe of King's College London. The article tells about conspiracy theories in the light of current world events. I believe that conspiracy theories are extremely dangerous in today's world. We could notice their effects at the beginning of January in front of the US Capitol building. Through social media, which allows information to be spread rapidly, influence of conspiracy theories has increased. Additionally, they are strengthened by the global pandemic. The article presents statements of scientists and interesting observations on conspiracy theories. However, the author does not propose a specific solution to this problem and only suggests a change in the rules of the functioning of social media or that the government should take up the fight against disinformation.  I think that some solutions should b...
