Recently, while walking around Warsaw, I noticed that there were more and more police officers on streets and in subway. There were actually policemen at nearly every metro station and on every major street, and this situation is not a one-day situation. It's good that the policemen came out from behind their desks and are among the people to keep order, but I wonder where this intensification comes from. Perhaps it is related to the announcements of the minister of health about greater checks on keeping epidemic restrictions, but I do not recall that earlier during the pandemic there was such an increased activity of the police. I am curious how this affects the crime statistics. I just wonder if the policemen are in greater numbers on the streets, they do not neglect other duties that they performed when they did not.
Recently, when I was returning from school by bus, a boy about 12 was standing next to me, listening to music. Even though he had headphones, the music could be heard within a few meters. I asked him to turn the music down, but despite the fact that he did, it was still loud and disturbed people which were reading books or just were tired. I don't understand the way some people think. When I put my headphones on, I always check that they are not set so loud that it will disturb other people. This boy's behavior is becoming more common, especially in the younger generation, but it is only one part of how people in public do not pay attention to whether their behavior disturbs others. I think that if we would thought about our behavior more often and made sure that it is not annoying, the world would be a better place.
Last Saturday, during a walk, I was approached by a man who was apparently looking for a way. He asked me if I knew where the horse stud was located. My automatic reply was "unfortunately no." A few seconds later, however, I came to the conclusion that i know where it was located, turned back and showed him the direction for which he thanked me. This situation made me wonder if the fact that I answered the first time without thinking was a symbol. People today have become more individualistic and have less contact with people in the real world. Perhaps my answer was simply due to the fact that I have never been to this stud and I know where it is only by accident, but this situation, (apart from the satisfaction of helping), also gave me lesson for future to watch out for antisocial reflexes, which may occur more frequent after lockdowns.
