Recently, while walking, I noticed two teams of children around 10 playing football against each other. Next to the pitch were quite large groups of their parents from both teams shouting at the kids and each other, getting excited about the game far more than those kids.
I understand that parents care a lot about those kids and whatever competition their children compete in is important to them, but I think it is often exaggerated. There are two extremes in the parents approach to children, one when they are completely uninterested in the child and the other, when they live their children's lives more than theirs. The latter extreme also manifests itself in a demanding attitude towards teachers as well as in many other situations. Perhaps the parents approach to their children would be more appropriate when they would use psychological help and educate themselves about upbringing, but it is rather impossible and it seems that it will be necessary to accept such an attitude of parents as part of today's times.
Don't even get me started on overprotective parents who live their kids' lives. They are making teachers' lives hell!
