In this post, I will describe article by Michael McEachrane "Will European countries ever take meaningful steps to end colonial legacies?" In the article, the author argues that the world still has to fight the effects of colonialism.
In my opinion, the author of the article is wrong. He criticizes the European Union for being insufficiently engaged in combating the effects of colonialism. The author argues that Sweden, which as he himself admits, had only one colony for a longer time, moreover is the first in the Good Country Index, and has for long accepted most immigrants from all European countries per capita, is doing not enough to make up for its racist past. I think that combating racial inequality is not a priority in Europe and such articles can only lead to "positive discrimination" or other harmful and unfair ideas. In the face of tough global challenges, such an exaggeration of problems can only cause more social conflicts.

Do you really think that Belgium shouldn't feel responsible for their exploitation of Congo and the complete mess the DRC is now? And that Britain has nothing to answer for?
